Oct. 6, 1943 – Jan. 27, 2023

Willow City

Loren Lee Fecho, son of Edwin and Mary Ann (Smith) Fecho was born October 6th, 1943 in Bottineau, ND. He passed away in his home at the age of 79 under the care of his family and hospice. He grew up, the oldest of his 6 siblings, on a farm west of Willow City. He graduated from Upham High School in 1962 and began farming and ranching.

On October 23rd, 1965 he married Jacqueline Lee Atkinson at the First Lutheran Church in Willow City. He was drafted into the army in 1968, and completed basic training in Washington State, then was stationed at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Georgia, and later in Germany where he served as a radio relay operator.

Following his honorable discharge in 1969, he returned to Willow City, and was actively farming and ranching while attending evening classes for 3 years in the veteran’s Ag program. He and Jacqueline raised 3 children together. Over the years he enjoyed many family birthdays, events, trips, and holidays.

Throughout his lifetime he spent much time farming and ranching, always out the door early with his thermos of coffee to check on the cattle and start the day. He enjoyed riding his side by side, and working with cattle with neighbors. Harvesting was an important time of the year, and it was not uncommon for him to question why anyone would plan a big social event at that time of year.

Loren was a legion member of the American Legion Post 112 in Willow City, served on the McHenry County FSA board and also the Willow Creek water management board as well as the Willow Creek Township board. He also has served on the First Lutheran Church Council.
