Ronald D. Waltz, 79, of

Brookings, passed away

Friday, November 6, 2020,

at The Neighborhood’s at

Brookview. Ronald Dean

Waltz was born on July

25, 1941, in Turtle Lake,

ND, son of Emanuel and

Ida (Berg) Waltz. He gra-

duated from Turtle Lake

High School in 1959. He

was united in marriage to

Judy Johnson on Sep-

tember 14, 1963 in Buf-

falo, ND. They were

blessed with two sons,

Bryan and Greg. Ron re-

ceived his BS in Business

Administration from

University of North Dako-

ta and later his Master’s in

Healthcare Administra-

tion from the University

of Minnesota. Throughout

his career Ron served as

CEO for various hospitals

including Stillwater Com-

munity Hospital, in

Columbus, MT, Fosston,

MN, Heart of America

Medical Center in Rugby,

ND, Vice President of Rur-

al Healthcare at Lutheran

Health Systems, in Fargo,

ND, CEO of Seward

Memorial Healthcare Sys-

tem and in retirement

continued doing health-

care administration on an

interim basis including

Brookings Health System,

in Brookings where he

and Judy resided.

In his free time, Ron

could be found hunting

and fishing with friends,

golfing and loved travel-

ing with Judy and his

family. His family was

very special to him and

was very proud of his

grandchildren.

He is survived by his

wife, Judy Waltz, of

Brookings, SD; two sons,

Bryan Waltz of Volga, SD

and Greg (Kristan) Waltz,

of Shakopee, MN and

three grandchildren, Na-

talie, Andrew and Kade.

He is preceded in death

by parents and his sister,

Ruby.

A private family ser-

vice was held Thursday

November 12th and was

livestreamed through the

Rude’s Funeral Home

Facebook Page. A huge

Celebration of Life is

planned on July 25, 2021

on what would have been

Ron’s 80th birthday.
