Albert Leier

Albert Leier was born to
George and Elizabeth
(Moszer) Leier on May 5,
1935 on the family farm
south of Orrin, North
Dakota. He died at the age
of 85 at the Heart of
America Care Center in
Rugby, North Dakota on
Thursday, November 5,
2020.
Albert was raised on the
family farm and attended
school in Orrin. On Oc-
tober 4, 1955, Albert was
united in marriage to Al-
ice Reiter in Orrin. He
worked for Burlington
Northern Railroad for
several years, worked for
the county for 15 years.
They moved to the farm
in 1961 and farmed and
ranched. The couple
raised their five daughters
and three sons on the
farm. In 1999, they retired
and moved into Orrin and
resided there for 13 years.
In June 2012, they moved
to Rugby. Albert enjoyed
playing pool and pi-
nochle. He loved listening
to polka party and en-
joyed dancing. His sweet
tooth gave way to
Hershey’s chocolate al-
mond bars every day! He
was a longtime member of
Sacred Heart Catholic
Church and choir and the
Knights of Columbus.
Albert is survived by
his loving wife, Alice of
65 years; his children,
Lorilee (Kurt) Kaplan of
Shawmut, Montana,
LeeAnn (John) Seil of
Rugby, LeeAllen (Bekki)
Leier of Rugby, Marlene
(Rick) Hoffart of Hubbard,
Oregon, Marylou (Rob)
Haskell of Fargo, Terry
(Debbie) Leier of Minot,
Wayne (Annette) of Orrin
and Jodi (Anthony) Lar-
son of Hettinger; 26
grandchildren; 32 great
grandchildren; brother,
Ray (Diane) Leier of Rug-
by and sister-in-law,
Dorothy Leier of
Anamoose; nieces,
nephews; other relatives
and friends. Albert was
preceded in death by his
brothers, Frank and
Harold Leier;
sister-in-law, Bernie Leier;
son-in-law, Matt Edland
and his parents.
Memorial Mass of
Christian Burial will be
held at 2:00 p.m. Friday,
November 20 at Little
Flower Catholic Church
with burial to follow at
3:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart
Cemetery in Orrin.
