Dennis J Marthe passed
to eternal life on October
16th, 2020 at the age of
75. Dennis was born on
July 18, 1945 to John B.
and Magdalena (Wentz)
Marthe of Esmond, ND.
He grew up in Esmond,
attended school there, and
graduated from Esmond
High School in 1963.
After high school, he at-
tended Lake Region State
College. He was then
drafted into the U.S.
Army in 1966 and served
until 1968. It was then
that Dennis moved to the
Denver Colorado area and
worked for the city of
Lakewood until his re-
tirement in 2007.
When Dennis retired in
2007, he moved back to
Rugby, ND. Dennis was
an avid Denver Broncos
fan, enjoyed golfing,
bowling, reading, movies,
and trivia. From spring to
fall, you could find him
on the golf course with
his buddies or at Lake
Metigoshe with his sisters
and family. During the
winter months, it was
football, family holidays,
suppers and birthdays
that occupied his time.
Dennis always had some-
thing to say, no matter
how random it was, and
could always make you
smile.
Dennis is survived by
his sisters: Adeline (Jerry)
Busch of Denver, Co,
Theresa (Jim) Wilmeth of
Elberta, AL, and Rita
Wentz of Rugby, ND. He
is survived by his broth-
ers: Dale (Karen) Marthe
of Minot, ND, and Patrick
Marthe of Arvada, CO. He
is also survived by many
nieces and nephews who
loved him. He is preced-
ed in death by his
parents; sisters, Lorraine
Hartman and Jeanette Ar-
nold; his brothers John,
Randolph, and Wesley
Marthe.
Mass of Christian Buri-
al was at 10:30 a.m. Fri-
day, Oct. 23rd at St. Boni-
face Catholic Church in
Esmond. Burial was in
the church cemetery with
full Military Honors ac-
corded by the Robert
Tovsrud VFW – Harlow,
Esmond VFW Post #4257
and the North Dakota Mil-
itary Funeral Honor De-
tail. Father Brian
Bachmeier, Celebrant.
A rosary & vigil prayer
service were then held at
7 p.m. in the St. Boniface
Catholic Church, Esmond
