Heart of America Concert Series continues with music, comedy

By Sue Sitter - | Apr 23, 2022

The Heart of America Concert Series continues on April 23 and 29 at the Tilman Hovland Auditorium in Rugby High School with music and comedy to entertain all ages.

The first performance, scheduled for April 23 at 7:30 p.m., will feature accordion tunes by Alex Meixnar, who will present some of his numbers as a duo with a guitarist. A statement by Allied Concert Services, series producer for the local Heart of America group, described the show as an “energetic and lively performance.”

“Alex knows how to make his instrument sing and dance with joy and enthusiasm and brings the audience right along on a musical journey through all kinds of favorite music,” the statement added.

On April 29, Comedian Kenny Ahern will visit the same stage at 7:30 p.m. Ahern will bring a unique performance, which comes from years with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. The show offers entertainment and laughter for “kids of all ages,” according to promoters.

Ahern’s show had been rescheduled from earlier in the season.

Tickets for both shows are $40 for adults, $80 for families, and $5 for students. Tickets are sold at the door. Ticket purchases pay for all concerts in the series. After the two April performances, the series wraps up on May 10 with a performance by Sons of the Pioneers – Legends in Western Music. That concert will also be held at Tilman Hovland Auditorium.
