Little Flower Knights of Columbus holds annual fish fry
Sue Sitter/PCT Members of the Little Flower Parish Knights of Columbus prepare 200 pounds of fish for their annual fish fry March 5 at the Rugby Eagles.
The Little Flower Knights of Columbus served up 200 pounds of fish, gallons of coleslaw in two varieties, green beans, baked potatoes and more at their annual fish fry held March 5 at the Rugby Eagles.
Organizer Gary Kraft said, “We’ve had the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry every year for the last 15 years, except for last year. That was because of COVID.”
“This is to raise funds for the Knights of Columbus,” Kraft added. “Most of it goes for the kids in the (Catholic Youth Organization), seminarians and church functions.”
Assisting the Knights were Little Flower parish members “and even a Lutheran,” Kraft added with a laugh, referring to First Lutheran Church member Kevin Schepp.
“We always do this during Lent,” Kraft said of the fish fry. Kraft noted the parish schedules the $10 per plate, all-you-can-eat supper around events like state basketball tournaments to ensure good turnout.
Attendees enjoyed baked and fried filets of pollock and pangasius whitefish along with coleslaw made with mayonnaise or vinaigrette dressing, green beans, baked potatoes and homemade apple bars.
“We’d like to think we have a good reputation, so we always get a pretty good crowd,” Kraft said.
