Margaret Rude

Margaret Rude, the
daughter of Wilhelm and
Esther (Sveum) Soby was
born on October 20, 1942
in Barton, North Dakota.
She died at the age of 77
years on October 16, 2020
at the Heart of America
Care Center in Rugby,
North Dakota.
Margaret was one of
three children and was
raised in Barton until
1949, when the family
moved to Rugby where
she attended school. On
April 16, 1961 she was
united in marriage to
James Rude. The couple
briefly moved to Mohall
until moving back Rugby,
where they lived from
1963 to 1967. They
moved to Minot and to
Miles City, Montana in
1972, where they raised
their six children. They
wanted to be closer to
their families, so they re-
turned to Rugby in 1989.
In 1988, Margaret donated
her kidney to her brother,
Bill Soby, due do his dia-
betes. Margaret was a
Sunday school teacher
and belonged to the Ea-
gles Club, VFW, The Sons
of Norway and was a boy
and girl scout leader.
Margaret is survived by
her children, Dwayne
(Camilla) Rude of Miles
City, Montana, Angela
Craine of Kotzebue, Alas-
ka, Arlyss Rude of Rugby,
Dwight Rude of Aurora,
Colorado, Audrey (Chad)
Edgerly of Rugby and
Douglas (Keisha) Rude of
Roy, Utah; 17 grandchil-
dren; 3 fury grandbabies;
21 great grandchildren;
several nieces, nephews;
other relatives and
friends. She was preced-
ed in death by her hus-
band, James; brothers,
William and Donald Soby;
parents, Wilhelm Soby
and Esther Mettler and
her step-father, Alfred
Mettler.
Graveside services will
be held on Friday, May 21
at 11:00 a.m. at Persilla
Watts Cemetery in Rugby,
Rev. Gary Dorn, Officiat-
ing.
