The Pierce County Fairgrounds saw a flurry of activity Wednesday, July 5 as workers prepared rides, food booths and barns for the opening of the Pierce County Fair and 4-H Achievement Days.
The fair opened on Thursday, July 6 and ends on Sunday, July 9.
Inside the community building, NDSU Extension Assistant Sandra Scherr registered incoming static exhibits.
“We’re just starting to get everybody together,” Scherr said. Scherr received a potted pumpkin seedlings from Josh Brandt, whose son Eli, is a member of the 4-H Cloverbuds.
“We have more than 300 exhibits coming in,” Scherr said. “We’re up about 10% from last year, and we’re up about 7.3% in total 4-H enrollment.”
“We had at one point 21 cattle this year, three pigs, one goat; there will be horses there,” she said. “We have chickens, goats and rabbits.” “We have triple the number of animals this year.”
