MINOT — The Rugby High boys and girls track and field members made the trip to Minot State University to participate in the Central North Dakota Conference (CNDC) Invite on March 28 at the MSU Dome. The girls’ team finished in second place, with 88.5 points, behind Bottineau with 117 points. Shiloh Christian was third with 70 points. The boys’ where in eighth place with 22 points while Bottineau was first with 120 points, Benson County second with 82 points and Harvey/Wells County at third with 71.5 points.

Rugby was one of 10 teams from the North Central while the West had one team, the Northwest had two teams, the South Central had three teams and the Southwest had three teams at the invite.

For the girls’ team, junior Ashlyn Martodam claimed top spot in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.93 that was a personal record. Senior Haylee Jundt claimed the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 32-feet, one-inch while fellow senior Riley Bonebrake was third with a throw of 31-feet, six-inches. Both throws were personal records for the pair.

Martodam also claimed first in the long jump with 16-feet, seven-inches and was fourth in the triple jump with 32-feet, 11-inches as well.

As a team, the girl’s 4×800 relay claimed first place with a final time of 11:32.39 with seniors Brooklyn Bartsch, Amelia Shepard, sophomore Jaelyn Lunde and junior Ashlyn Dibble in the group.

For the boys’ team, freshman Jove Risovi had the highest individual placing at fourth in the pole vault with a personal record of nine-feet while sophomore Caleb Schaan cleared eight-feet for seventh place. Schaan was also eighth in the triple jump with a 36-foot, four-inch jump.
