BOTTINEAU — Khaliel Abdurrahman scored an unassisted goal two-and-a-half minutes into the third period for Bottineau-Rugby, but it wasn’t enough to overcome four goals from Minot High, as the Magicians defeated the Braves 4-1 in boys’ hockey action on Tuesday night. With the win, the Magi picked up six points in the WDA standings.

Mackley Morelli opened the scoring 7:21 into the first period with the first of his two unassisted goals to give Minot a 1-0 lead. The Magi made it 2-0 with 44 seconds left in the first, when Andrew Kohlman found Carter Coleman open, who then put it in the back of the net.

Minot wasted little time in the second period before scoring, when Teegan Strand recorded a goal just 24 seconds in. He was assisted by Jersey Abrahamson and Easton Panasuk.

It was 3-0 Minot before Abdurrahman scored past Carson Erickson, who got the start in goal for the Magi.

Morelli made it 4-1 with a little over two-minutes left in the game on his second unassisted goal of the night.

Easton Freeman made 35 saves for Bottineau-Rugby, while Erickson had 16 for Minot.

Minot improves to 10-5-2-2 overall and 8-4-0-1 in WDA with the win.

The loss drops Bottineau-Rugby to 6-9-0-2 overall and 2-9-0-2 in WDA play. Up next for the Braves is a matchup at Mayville-Portland this evening, with the opening faceoff at 5:15 p.m.
