Rugby volleyball loses against Berthold
On Monday, Oct. 23, Rugby welcomed Lewis and Clark-Berthold to their home court, concluding the regular volleyball season for both teams with the Bombers taking the win after a five-set bout, 25-14, 25-16, 25-14, 25-23, 15-9.
Leading the Panthers in kills was middle hitter Lacie Deplazes with 12 kills, followed by outside hitter Allie Blessum with eight kills and middle blocker Katie Sullivan with three.
Sullivan and middle hitter Reese Gullickson each had two blocks to pace Glenburn.
Setter Jesse Wolf scored three aces for the Panthers and also led in assists with 18 registered, followed by fellow setter Kaedyn DeMontigny with six.
Deplazes continued to lead by completing 27 digs over the course of the match followed by libero Taylor Pritschet and defensive specialist Trista Hamilton, both tying with 16 digs total.
The Bombers’ middle hitter Kasey Simmons led both teams in kills for the match with 16 kills scored, followed by outside hitter Mya Neshem with 14 and Aubree Schepp with nine.
Simmons went on to also lead both teams in blocks with four blocks completed, followed by Schepp who completed two.
Neshem led the Bombers in both aces and digs, scoring two aces and completing 21 digs for the match. Following Neshem in aces is Tericka Schenfish with three aces.
Ella Brown led both teams in assists for the match, registering 31 assists in total.
Both teams will compete in the 2023 NDHSAA Class B, Region 6 Volleyball Tournament in their respective districts: Rugby in District 11 and Berthold in District 12, which begins this Thursday, Oct. 26 and continues through Oct. 30.
No. 6 Rugby will go up against No. 3 Velva in District 11 bracket, while No. 6 Berthold plays No. 3 Des Lacs-Burlington in District 12.
