Rugby 12U softball

It was about more than wins and losses for the Rugby 12U softball team as it wrapped up the summer season, Tuesday, July 18.

There was no win-loss record kept for the team. It was more about teaching the love of the sport and the fundamentals of softball.

“We really just worked on the fundamentals, making sure we understand how to swing, how to cover and where we should be,” said Coach Joran Jundt. “We’re just having fun.”

Before their last game against Fessenden at home in Rugby Tuesday, July 18. The Rugby 12U softball team participated in games against Harvey and Carrington Thursday, July 13.

Rugby played Carrington’s Red Birds for the first game, losing 10-5 to Carrington.

Rugby faced Harvey next. Rugby jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but ended up with a tough 15-8 loss to Harvey.

Rugby played Fessenden in Rugby Tuesday, July 18, for its final game of the season.

“It was a really good season. You can definitely tell the improvements from the first game to now,” said Jundt. “My staff has been great.”

Mikaylee Livedalen and Brooklyn Hager were the assistant coaches.
