Sue Sitter/PCT Rugby’s Peyton Hauck races in the girls’ 100-yard dash event at the Panther Booster Invitational Track and Field Meet at Rugby High School May 15.

The number of Rugby Panthers track athletes with tickets punched for state grew after three meets held in a one-week period May 9-16.

Rugby’s William Lundberg continued to excel in the dash events. He added a qualifying 51.94-second time in the 400-meter dash to qualifiers in the 100 and 200-meter events earned earlier in the season.

Logan Gronvold earned a third ticket to state in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.10 seconds.

In the long jump, Bryceton Deplazes added a state qualifying mark of 20 ft., 9.75 inches to the qualifying triple jump he earned earlier in the season.

In the javelin event, Brody Schneibel punched his ticket to state with a throw of 160 ft., 8 in.

On the Rugby Panthers Girls’ team, Ashley Martodam added a qualifying triple jump of 34 ft., 5 in. to the long jump qualifier she earned earlier in the season at the Central North Dakota Conference Outdoor Meet held in Rugby May 9.

Also earning a qualifying distance in the triple jump was Lacie Deplazes, with a mark of 34 ft. 1 in.

Rugby’s Janikka Miller bested her two previous high jump qualifying marks of 5.0 feet with a jump measured at 5 ft. 2 in.

Shot putter Riley Bonebrake added a second qualifying throw to the 36 ft., 7 in. mark she earned at the previous week’s Charlie Hanneman Memorial Meet.

Distance runners came into their own for the girls’ team, with a relay team of Brooklyn Bartsch, Hallie Hauck, Sam Blessum and Hannah Senechal securing a spot at state in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:16.45.

Hauck added her ticket to state to one she had earned in the long jump at the Charlie Hanneman Memorial Meet. Her older sister, Peyton, had also qualified in the long jump at an earlier meet.

Bartsch again ran in the 4×800-meter relay, this time with teammates Mikaylee Livedalen, Jaelyn Lunde. Senechal again ran the anchor leg of the race. The four qualified for state with a time of 10:17.19.

Bartsch added her qualifying relay times to a qualifier she earned in the 800-meter event at the Hanneman Memorial Meet.

The intense schedule continued apace with the Panther Booster meet in Rugby Monday, May 15.

The meet saw the 4×100-meter relay team of Kristian Fritz, Cole Fahnestock, Logan Gronvold and William Lundberg qualify for state with a time of 45.69 seconds.

Cy Walker qualified for state in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.38 seconds.

Rugby’s Senechal qualified for the 800-meter race, and Bartsch qualify in the 400-meter dash.
