College hockey came to Rugby’s Al Wentz Arena when the Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks took on the Williston State College Tetons Nov. 15.

The Jacks took command of the game early with three goals in the first period, one of them scored by former Bottineau/Rugby Brave Ian Amsbaugh, who also picked up an assist.

The Jacks would end the game with an almost unheard of 10-4 win over the Tetons. Williston forward Seth Davis saw a hat trick in the game. Wayne Auger scored the fourth goal for the Tetons on a power play.

However, the game belonged to the Lumberjacks, who notched two goals from Chayse Haberman, two from Ryan Patterson, two from Leighton Holstein, one from Phillip Parisien and another from JJ Adams over three periods. Bottineau forward Zane MacDonald scored the Jacks’ 10th goal with another assist from Amsbaugh.

High school hockey will come to Rugby’s Wentz Arena Dec. 3 when the Bottineau-Rugby Braves take on the Jamestown Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m.

The Bottineau-Rugby 19U girls will face off against Crosby Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in their home arena in Bottineau. The girls will have five games in Rugby during their season.
