Road trip to Beulah tourney pays off for Panthers

A road trip to Beulah paid off for the Rugby Panthers when they traveled west to face the Miners in a Dec. 28 basketball tourney and came home with a 62-56 win.

“It was a close game,” Panthers coach Mike Santjer said later in the week. “I think our rebounding was the key for us. We limited them to one shot and then our kids went and got the rebound.”

“They were really patient on the offensive side,” he added. “We didn’t force a lot of bad shots. We worked the ball around and got the shot we wanted.”

“Just kind of our patience and rebounding were keys,” Santjer said.

The 4-1 Panthers traveled west again, this time to Des Lacs to face the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers. Results from that game will appear in next week’s Tribune.
