Rugby shooters win at state ATA shoot

On July 17-21, members of the Rugby Shooting Club participated in the North Dakota Amateur Trapshooting Association State Shoot in Bismarck. The event started on Wednesday with a youth only team event. Rugby had 10 youth participate and were able to bring home 3rd Place honors in the Junior Division with a score of 458/500. Kyla Radomski earned High Junior Girl honors with a score of 93.
On Thursday, Kordell Kraft won 1st in the Sub Junior Category in the singles event with a 99. Vince Mattern won Class A singles with a 99 as well. Norman Howard earned first place as a Sub Vet in the Handicap event, shooting a 95.
On Friday, Sub Junior Kordell Kraft shot an impressive 97 to earn first place in his category. Kyla Radomski won D class with a 94.
Also on Friday was a handicap event, and Blair Kuhnhenn won a shoot-off to win the Champion of the event with a 96. Vince Mattern was the winner in the Mid-Yardage group with a 95.
Saturday was the 200 Singles Championship.
Sub Vet Norman Howard won his category with a 196.
Kraft was successful in winning his category of Sub Junior with a 192.
Mattern won Class A with a 196.
Matthew Oksendahl took 1st in Class C with a 191.
Kyla Radomski was Junior Runner Up with a 193.
Carson Mattern took home 2nd Place in D class with a 189.
Sunday was Doubles & Handicap Championships (each with 100 targets)
In the Doubles Event:
– Jerome Voeller was the Senior Vet Runner Up with an 89.
– Howard was the Sub Vet Runner Up with a 93
– Vince Mattern was 3rd Place in Class A with a 93
– Randy Knain was 3rd Place in Class C with an 87
– Kuhnhenn was 3rd Place in Class D with an 85
In the Handicap Event;
– Kuhnhenn was Junior Runner Up with a 93
– Radomski won a shoot off to earn 1st Place in the Short Yardage Group with a 92
– Vince Mattern also won a shoot off to earn 1st Place in the Mid Yardage Group with a 91.
High All Around trophies were awarded for the 3 championship events (400 targets)
– Howard won the Sub Vet category with a 379
– Vince Mattern won Class A with a 380
– Carson Mattern won Class D with a 364
High Overall trophies were also awarded for the entire event with consisted of 1000 targets.
Honors of winning Sub Vet went to Howard with a 939 and Class A went to Vince Mattern with a 942.
Radomski also earned a $200 scholarship for the high female junior shooter in the Champion Singles Event.
