Wrestlers compete at Letterman’s tourney

Rugby High School wrestlers competed last weekend at the Central Cass Letterman’s Tournament at Central Cass High School in Casselton.

In the 106-pound weight class, Bryson Amyotte got a win by pin in the championship rounds over Carter Iverson (Hillsboro-Central Valley). In the quarterfinals Amyotte lost by technical to Lisbon’s Carter Wallner. In the consolation rounds, Amyotte lost by pin to Cade Olson-Tingelstad (Central Cass).

In the 113-pound weight class, John Jundt won by decision over Carson Brown in the first round of the championship. In the second round Jundt lost by pin to Jace Nitschke (South Border). Jundt got a bye in the second consolation round, and lost by decision in the next round to Seth Lavalier (Fertile-Beltrami).

Brenden Kleespie lost by pin in the second round of the championships to Brown.

In the 120-pound weight class, Ridley Odden won by pin over Tucker Bolstad (Fertile-Beltrami) in the first round of the championships. In the second round, Odden lost by pin to Isiah Grimm (Sisseton). In the consolation rounds Odden won by decision over Bishop Ryan’s Wesley Harvey, and lost by major decision to Zach Haire (Breckenridge).

In the 126-pound weight class, Austin Schneibel lost by pin to Dane Christopherson (Sisseton) in the second round of the championships. In the consolation rounds Schneibel lost by pin to Derrik Wegscheid (New York Mills).

In the 132-pound weight class, after a first round bye Aden Jensen lost the second round of the championships by pin to Simon Sveum (Lisbon). After a bye in the consolation rounds, Jensen lost by pin to Hunter Hitchen (Fertile-Beltrami).

In the 138-pound weight class, Wyatt Schmaltz lost the first round of the championships by pin to Brackin Awender (Oakes). In the consolation rounds, Schmaltz got a win by decision over Herman Kauk (South Border). Schmaltz lost by decision to Jayden Fryer (Sisseton).

In the 145-pound weight class, Issac Christianson lost by pin to Dylan Pearson (Breckenridge) in the second round of the championships. After a second round bye in the consolation rounds, Christianson lost by pin to Central Cass’ Aidan Olson-Tingelstad.

Rugby wrestlers competed yesterday and are competing today in a tournament at the Charlie Hanneman gymnasium at Rugby High School.
