Wrestlers grapple at Tioga triangular
Rugby High School’s wrestling team traveled to Tioga for a triangular between Williams County and Killdeer.
Killdeer won over Rugby, 49-21, and Williams County won over Rugby, 54-24.
In the 106-lb. weight class, Bryson Amyotte fell to Jace Andersen (Killdeer) and Aaron Brimhall.
In the 120-lb. weight class, Brenden Kleespie fell to Gus Bombach (Killdeer) and Canvas Sanders (Williams County).
In the 126-lb. weight class, John Jundt defeated Killdeer’s Birch Bang by fall. Against Williams County, Jundt lost by pin to Cristian Lagunes.
At 132 pounds, Austin Schneibel pinned both his opponents, Landen Orcutt (Killdeer) and Leyton Brunelle (Williams County).
In the 138-lb. weight class, Aden Jensen defeated Killdeer’s Dayne Fredericks. Williams County’s Ethan Wonser defeated Jensen by fall.
In the 145-lb. weight class, Riley Zachmeier defeated Killdeer’s Dylan Tabor by fall. Williams County’s Hugo Garcia defeated Joel Matehs by fall.
In the 152-lb. weight class, Wyatt Schmaltz lost by fall to Killdeer’s Gabe Bell. Schmaltz later defeated Williams County’s Clayton Grove.
Issac Christianson (160#) lost by major decision to Killdeer’s Ashton Frei and by fall to Williams County’s Brock Christopherson.
Brady Volk (170#) defeated Williams County’s Angel Guerrero. Volk lost by decision to Killdeer’s Zach Andersen.
Dylan Grove (182#) defeated Williams County’s Keaton Brunelle. Grove lost by fall to Killdeer’s John Tomjack.
The team is competing today in Velva. The next action for the team is a triangular in Rolla on Dec. 6. They are scheduled to travel to Kenmare on Dec. 7.
