By Staff | Sep 21, 2018

The last time the Rugby Panthers faced the Park River-Fordville-Lankin Aggies on the gridiron, it ended in a 30-0 shutout against the Panthers.

The time before that the Aggies won as well, 48-14.

But the results were different this time around.

The Panthers got to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter, which would later translate to a 34-6 final score in Rugby’s favor in a road game at Park River.

Junior wideout Devan Michels drew first blood for the Panthers on an 85-yard scoring run, and would run in the conversion. Classmate and fellow wideout Corey Mattern would get a 38-yard run of his own, and a conversion of his own to get the Panthers ahead.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Panthers would add another tuddy in the third quarter with sophomore running back Joel Matehs running it in from eight yards out.

The Aggies would get their only score of the game in the fourth quarter, with senior quarterback Adam Zavalney on a 9-yard keeper.

Senior running back Kevin Vetsch provided the Panthers’ response on a 55-yard run. Vetsch would also get the final six points on a 46-yard run.
