Track teams take home wins from CNDC, Peace Garden

The Rugby Panthers Track and Field team had a busy past week with two meets. Both boys and girls teams had state qualifiers and took home first place in both meets as they competed in the Central North Dakota Conference Outdoor at Fessenden, and the Peace Garden Meet in St. John.

In the CNDC, on Fessenden’s track, The Rugby girls finished in first place with an overall score of 243 points. The Panther Boys also had a first place win with a score of 145.

In the girls competition, Kristina Brossart finished in first place in the 100 meter with a 12.57 and in the 200 meter to make a state qualifying score. She was followed by Anni Stier with a second place, also state qualifying in the 300 meter with a 48.99 time. Maria Blessum placed first with a time of 16.77.

In the girls long jump, it was Brooke Blessum with a 15′ 9/14″ jump. In the high jump, she jumped 4’11”. In the triple jump, Sara Stier took first with 33′ 3″.

It was Maddie Uhlenkamp who came in first place in the Shot put with 33’9″. She also had a state qualifying event in the Discus with a throw of 119′ 9″.

In the 400 meter relay the girls placed first place with a state qualifying score of 1:05.71

Action on the boys’ side was successful as well, with Kaden Jaeger placing first in the 100 meter with 11.19 time. He also placed second in the 200 meter with a time of 23.31. Cody Jundt came in 3rd with a time of 23.69.

In the 300 meter hurdle, it was Keith Vetsch who placed 2nd with a time of 44.44. In the 3200-meter run Dawson Schepp came in second with a time of 11:10.43.

In the high jump Jaden Hamilton placed 2nd with a 5’10” reach. In the Pole Vault it was Hayden Thingvold with second place for a 8’6″ jump.

Earlier in the week May 3rdat The Peace Garden Meet, the Track and Field team had a meet at St John. Boys that State qualified on Thursday were in the 100 M Dash Kaden Jaeger, High Jump Jaden Hamilton, Triple Jump Corey Mattern, and the 4 x 100 Relay were Keith Vetsch John Butler,Kaden Jaeger ,Cody Jundt. All qualified for State.

In the girls meet May 3rd, state qualifiers are: in the 100 meter Kristina Brossart took 1st place, in the 200 meter Kristina Brossart also took 1st, in the 300 meter hurdles, Anni Stier was 1st place, and in the Discus, Maddie Uhlenkamp took first place, and in the 4 x 100 relay it was Maria Blessum, Anni Stier, Sara Stier, and Kristina Brossart taking first place, and in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay it was Kristina Brossart, Tristin Lunde, Maria Blessum and Anni Stier took first place.

The next Track and Field meet was Friday, May 11 at St. John and results were not available at press time. There is a meet today at Fessenden starting at 10 a.m.
