By Staff | Feb 16, 2018

The Bottineau-Rugby Braves had their regular season end in last week in back-to-back shutout losses.

The Braves lost 6-0 to the Bismarck Century Patriots at the Al Wentz Arena in Rugby, and lost 8-0 the day before at the Pepsi Arena in Minot.

The loss to Minot was the first time this season that the Braves had been shut out. The Magi set the tone early, with Brock Bergrude and Mason Diehl each netting one goal each in the first period. In the next, the Magi hit six shots on goal. The Braves and the Magi are expected to meet again in the West Region quarterfinals.

The loss to Century was more spaced out in scoring, with Century netting two goals apiece over three periods.

The Braves’ record fell to 7-10-2 overall and 2-8-2 in the Western Dakota Association.

West Region hockey started Thursday and continues today in Minot.
