Braves break tie with Coyotes

By Staff | Jan 19, 2018

The Bottineau-Rugby Braves won their second meeting of the season with the Williston Coyotes last week at the Al Wentz Arena in Rugby. The game was originally scheduled for Jan. 12, but was bumped up three days earlier.

The Coyotes got on the board first, with a goal from Braeden Zaste. The Braves would then get a 2-1 lead with shots on goal from Jarek Dolbeare and Ian Amsbuagh (who leads the Braves in both points and assists).

At the 16:41 mark in the first period, Chance Johnson, with assistance from Zaste, tied the game 2-2.

But Jace Scherr who currently leads the team in goals would break that tie at the 15:46 mark in the second period, with assistance from Alex Hoffert.

With the win, the Braves move to 5-4-1 on the season with one game (against Mandan) ending in a 2-1 shootout.

The Braves are playing in Dickinson today at 4 p.m. Central time. The next actions for the Braves include hosting Minot (Jan. 22 @ 7:30 p.m. in Bottineau) and traveling to Bismarck (Jan. 26, 5 p.m.).
