Lori Gronvold for the Tribune Landen Foster is airborne last Thursday evening in a home game against the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers. The Panthers lost to the Lakers, 59-58.

On Tuesday the Rugby Panther boys basketball team wiped out the Westhope-Newburg Sioux with a final score of Panthers 73-42 at a game at Westhope/Newburg High School. This followed on the shirt-tales of the Panthers and the Hornets game in Harvey on January 6. The Panthers took no hostages, winning that game 87 44 over the Hornets.

Two days prior to the game in Harvey, the Panthers lost, 59-58, to the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers.

The game at Westhope was a fast starting game, with Panthers going out into the lead early in the first quarter at 19-8. It quickly became a Panthers game as the first quarter finished with 45-21. It was 52-17 at the half. It seemed like the Sioux were catching up as the balls flew into the buckets and off the rim to end the third quarter 61-33.

The Panthers were soon on their way to victory. Trace Goven scored a high of 25 points for the evening. The final score of the evening was 73-42 Panthers.

The Panthers played Thursday in Cando against the North Star Bearcats. The next action for the Panthers will be a pair of home games. On Jan. 18 they will host Nedrose, and on Jan. 23 they will host Bottineau.
