Wrestlers compete at triangular, Linton tourney

The Rugby High School wrestling team competed Tuesday in a triangular between Bismarck Legacy and Turtle Mountain high schools, as well as a two-day tournament last week in Linton.

Ridley Odden defeated Stephen Leonard (Turtle Mountain) by technical. Odden lost by major decision to Legacy’s Tim Kadrmas.

Riley Zachmeier defeated both his opponents, Peter Mcleod (Turtle Mountain) by technical and Maverick Martin (Bismarck Legacy) by pin.

Joey Berg tech-ed both his opponents on the night: Legacy’s Riley Martin and Turtle Mountain’s Chance Brunelle.

D.J. Schneibel defeated both of his opponents by pin: Turtle Mountain’s Seth Baker and Legacy’s Seth Thomsen.

Brady Volk won by decision over Turtle Mountain’s Cody Peltier, and pinned Legacy’s Hunter Sabot.

Dylan Grove lost by pins to Nolen Demery (Turtle Mountain) and Thomas Scheett (Bismarck Legacy).

Jayden Mack lost by pins to Chance Davis (Legacy) and Dawson Zerr (Turtle Mountain).

In Linton, Odden lost by decision to Carrington’s Treston Lura in the ninth place match.

Aden Jensen took ninth place, winning by decision over Bishop Ryan’s Jaeger Lundeen.

Berg took fourth place, losing the third place match by decision to Carrington’s Zach Broadwell.

After falling to Marc Seyer (Oakes), Volk fell in the consolation round to Killdeer’s Dylan Tabor.

Grove was sent to the consolation round after getting pinned by Isaac Olson (Mobridge-Pollock). There Grove lost by decision to Des Lacs-Burlington’s Nathan Ferm.

Schneibel took second place on the tournament, falling to Watford City’s Jackson Faller. Schneibel pinned Oakes’ Hunter Greenmyer and won by decision Velva’s Kutter Blumhagen to get to the finals.

Rugby competed Thursday in duels on their home turf against Stanley and Velva. Their next action will be Dec. 28 and 29 at the Fargodome.
