On Tuesday, the Rugby Panthers came to the Rolla Bulldogs home game with a No. 9 standing, having a 5-1 record. The Rolla Bulldogs were 1-5. As the Panthers, dressed in black hit the court Tuesday night, they charged over the Bulldogs to win 73-20 in the Rolla High School gymnasium.

The game got off to a slow start for both teams, but the Bulldogs did lead at one time with 4 3, but it was the last time the team would even get close. Anni Stier took off with a 3 point score after the Bulldogs were leading to plunge the Panthers ahead 8-4. A foul was made against Tristin Lunde. After that, Stier got the ball again in the last 90 seconds for three points but she wasn’t done yet, she had another 3-pointer with ease. But it still wasn’t over. Bulldog Kyleigh Wilkes scored two points to take it to 8 but the Panthers dominated to end the first quarter 15-8.

The second quarter opened with a turn over on the Bulldogs and the Panthers Lunde scored 3, following with a one point shot making the game 19-8 and the action continued to end the first quarter with Rugby Panthers 38-16. The Bulldogs scored 6 points in the first quarter and 10 points in the second. The Panthers scored 13 points in the first quarter and 25 points in the second quarter.

The third quarter started out with Brooke Blessum tripping to the floor. But she was soon up to score two 3’s after Karsyn Hager scored one 3 to make the score 46-16 with 3 minutes left in the third quarter. The Panthers kept on scoring to end the third quarter with 63-20. Because of the scoring, the clock was to remain running in the fourth quarter. By this time, every member of the Panthers had scored during the game except Whitney Gronvold. But it was only seconds into the quarter and Gronvold changed that. The Panthers had every team member on the board Tuesday night. They went on to finish 73 20.

The Panthers improved to 6-1 overall.

The girls played Friday in a double-header with the Panther boys against Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood. The next action for the girls will be Thursday, Dec. 28 against the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks at the Minot Municipal Auditorium.
