Two Monday and Tuesday victories helped set the stage for a rematch in the championship round of the Region 6 volleyball tournament.

The Rugby Panthers knocked off the Bishop Ryan Lions Monday evening and the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers the next night to face the Our Redeemer’s Christian School Knights Thursday night.

On Monday the Panthers won three sets-25-21, 25-16 and 25-14-against the Lions.

The next night Rugby won the first set, 27-25, but the Lakers were able to tie the series up in the second set, winning 25-18. The Panthers then won the third set, 25-16, and an extremely close fourth set, 25-23.

Anni Stier led in blocks Monday with three, and Jacque Blessum led the next day with 11.

Last year the Knights defeated the Panthers in three sets in the championship round of the tournament and advanced to the state tournament. This year the Knights defeated the Towner-Granville-Upham Titans in three sets in the first round of the region tournament.
