Panther football falls to Carrington
The Panthers managed to outscore their opponent, the Carrington Cardinals, 8-0 in the fourth quarter.
But the Cardinals had the game in hand by that point, resulting in a 48-8 loss for the Panthers.
The Panthers’ lone score of the game came from a drive that runner Kaden Jaeger capped with an 18-yard run. Keith Vetsch then ran it in for the ensuing conversion.
The first half was all Cardinals, starting with Hayden Schmitz connecting with Jayden Shipman on a 34-yard pass and ending with an 18-yard run from Payton Smith.
The third quarter was a similar story. The Cardinals first scored with Seth Nelson finding Kolton Vetter. The next score came from Lucas Geiszler, who carried from the two-yard line.
The Panthers held their last home game of the season Friday against Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn. Next week the Panthers travel to Bottineau, and the week after that the Panthers end their regular season on the road against the Harvey-Wells County Hornets.
According to standings on ndhsaanow.com, Langdon Area-Munich and Carrington (both of which are the Cardinals) hold the top two spots in Region 2 Class A, while Rugby sits at seventh and Central Dakota at eighth.
