Track team members qualify for state

Rugby High School track & field team members had one last chance to qualify for state at the regional meet last week in Rugby.

And quite a few did so.

As teams, both the boys and girls took respective first places on the meet.

The boys saw state qualifiers in Dustin Herold (100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4×100 and 4×200-meter relays), Cade Heilman (100 dash, 200 dash, 400-meter dash, 4×200 relay), Kaden Jaeger (200 dash, 4×100 relay, 4×200 relay, pole vault), Jacob Blessum (800-meter run, 4×400-meter relay, 4×800-meter relay, 300-meter hurdles), J.D. Matehs (110-meter hurdles), Cole Wentz (3200-meter run, 4×800 relay), Cody Jundt (4×400 relay, 4×200 relay), Trace Goven (4×800), John Mueller (4×800), Kade Leier (4×100, 4×400), Nathan Livedalen (4×400, triple jump), Keith Vetsch (4×100, 300 hurdles), Shayden Luna (triple jump) and D.J. Schneibel (javelin).

The girls saw state qualifiers in Kristina Brossart (100 dash, 200 dash, 4×400), Maria Blessum (400 dash, pole vault), Anni Stier (400 dash, 300 hurdles, 4×400), Tristin Lunde (800 run, 4×400, 4×800), Ellie Duchscherer (1600 run, 3200 run, 4×800), Karsyn Hager (3200 run, 4×800), Anna Clements (4×800), Lyndsey Schmitt (4×400), Brooke Blessum (high jump, pole vault, long jump), Kelly Swanson (pole vault), Sara Stier (long jump, triple jump), and Madison Uhlenkamp (discus).

Maria Blessum also set a new meet record in pole vault with a height of 10 feet.

The state track meet continues today in Bismarck.
