Kaden Jaeger, Rugby coaches and stats celebrate a win during a wrestling tournament held last week in Rugby. Jaeger took second on the tournament.

Four Rugby High School wrestlers capped last week off by placing in their respective weight classes at a meet in Rugby.

Riley Zachmeier went undefeated and took first in the 113-pound weight class in a decisive victory over Linton’s Chandler Nagel.

A loss by decision sent junior Joey Berg (132#) into the consolation rounds. With a fifth round loss also by decision, Berg competed in the seventh place match, where he won by fall over Bransyn Yanish, of Velva.

Classmate Kaden Jaeger (165) took second, falling to Bishop Ryan’s Konner Beeter 1 minute and 37 seconds into the first place match.

Quarterfinal and consolation semifinal losses, both by decision, sent D.J. Schneibel to the fifth place match. There, he defeated Pembina County North’s Tucker Soli by major decision.

Wrestlers are competing today at a tournament in Rolla, just one day after a quadrangular at Des Lacs-Burlington.
