Berg, Jensen advance to finals at Kenmare

A one-day tournament ended with one Rugby wrestler taking home first place.

After a first round bye Joey Berg, a 132-pound junior, defeated Des Lacs-Burlington’s Weston Walhus and Watford City’s Trey Polka to advance to the first place match in a tournament at Kenmare. There he defeated Killdeer’s Dylan Tabor by major decision.

One-hundred and six-pound seventh grader Aiden Jensen also got a first round bye and then defeated both Ashden Christian (Mondak Thunder) and Gunner Mogen (Velva) by fall to advance to the first place match. Jensen would then be defeated by decision by Velva’s Elizabeth Massine.

Berg’s classmate Kaden Jaeger (152 pounds) defeated Northern Lights’ Trystin Horning and Mondak Thunder’s Ethan Myers by fall to advance to the first place match. There he was defeated by Killdeer’s Cole Dukart by major decision.

Also placing at the meet were Cole Schneibel (182 lbs.) , who defeated Northern Lights Sheyenne Thomas for a fifth place finish; and Ethan Rost (152) who lost to Horning in the seventh place match.

Also competing at the meet were Riley Odden, D.J. Schneibel and Riley Zachmeier.
