Braves burned in opener

By Staff | Dec 2, 2016

The Bottineau-Rugby Braves had their first game on the ice last week in Devils Lake.

But from the moment the puck hit the net on a score from Kale Miller, the game would belong to the Devils Lake Firebirds in a 7-0 shutout.

Craig Peterson then gave the Firebirds a 2-0 lead before the end of the first period. The Firebirds started the second period on a Ryyan Reule powerplay (assisted by Peterson and Matthew Boren). Scores by Alec Miller, Cole Senkyr and Jacob Martin gave the Firebirds a 6-0 advantage going into a third period.

Martin then had the final point of the game on his second goal on the night.

The Braves played Jamestown on Friday in Rugby. They play Dickinson today in Bottineau.
