A success season continued this past Saturday as the Rugby Cross Country teams shined against the competition. “This is as good of running from both teams on the same day in quite awhile,”‘ mentioned a proud Coach Jansen, “mentally and physically all the kids were ready.”

The Rugby Boys took home the East Region trophy with a first place score of 38 (Hillsboro/Central Valley was second with 73). Their top finish alone was enough reason to celebrate, but the boys also had SEVEN All-Region performers, the top 20 placers become All-Region. While the historical documents will need to be consulted, that possibly is a Rugby record. Brett O’Connell was nominated for Outstanding Senior Athlete and Jansen was named Region Coach Of The Year.

The Girls took second as a team with a score of 99, trailing only Hillsboro/Central Valley (70). Three Lady Panthers were All-Region. Both sides will look to compete for the State Title this Saturday in Jamestown. “We will find out if we can duplicate our success,” stated Jansen. Good luck to both teams.
