9-man football roundup
The postseason continues today, and only three remain from Region 4.
The Towner-Granville-Upham Titans stole the game from the Tioga Pirates (Region 6, fourth seed), 44-0, last week.
The Titans first got on the board five minutes into the game with senior quarterback Kolter Schell finding classmate Cole Bethke on a 60-yard pass.
In the second quarter, sophomore running back Shayden Luna started things off with a run from midfield, followed by a connection with Schell for a two-point conversion. Schell would later connect with senior wideout Lane Bachmeier on a 70-yard pass, and scored on a keeper in the final seconds of the first half.
Luna would later have another huge gain for a touchdown halfway into the third quarter on a 72-yard run.
The Titans are on the road today, taking on the top beasts of Region 5, the New Salem-Glen Ullin Holsteins. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Woodchucks-Mavericks matchup on Oct. 29.
In other action, the top-seed North Prairie Cougars who are fresh from a bye week have home-field advantage against the Divide County Maroons in Rolette.
The second-seed St. John Woodchucks obliterated the Bowman County Bulldogs the no. 4-seed out of Region 5 42-0. The Woodchucks are on the road today to take on the Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood Mavericks, who are number one in Region 6.
The Drake-Anamoose Raiders were taken out of contention by the Kenmare-Bowbells-Burke Central Honkers in a 70-12 trouncing. The Honkers move on to face the Richardton-Taylor-Hebron Raiders. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Cougars-Maroons game on Oct. 29.
