Volleyball sweeps in strong fashion
The RHS Volleyball team dominated against St. John in this past Tuesday’s match.
The team won three out of four sets, with scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-14.
Top players were Sara Stier, with 11 aces, 10 kills, 3 blocks and 8 digs; Madison Uhlenkamp, with 11 aces and 5 kills; and Maria Blessum, with 6 aces and 6 digs.
Other noteworthy plays were made by Anni Stier, with 6 blocks; Jacque Blessum, with 3 blocks; Abby Volk, with 5 assists; and Alissa Volk, with 4 assists.
“Overall, the girls play a great game,” Jessica Fritz, Head Coach, said. “Our serving helped us tremendously throughout the whole match. Not often do we have almost 40 aces as a team. We have continued to work on that part of our game, and it shows.”
Fritz says that the team will continue to work on serving, in order to better help the team’s setters and hitters.
“We are always looking to improve from each match, and we hope to bring those things we learn into the next game,” she said. “It’s early in the season, and we are seeing some great play from all the players. As a young team, we keep looking to build on our strengths.”
The team also played at home against Benson County on Thursday, September 8. Scores to follow in next week’s issue of The Tribune.
