Rugby tops at CNDC, Velva, home

Rugby High School track & field teams’ dominating ways continued last week at home; at the CNDC Outdoor Invitational in Fessenden; and at the Last Chance meet Monday in Velva.

At the Mariya Tate Memorial Meet in Rugby, Rugby girls took first with 260. Rugby swept the pole vault event (Maria Blessum, 1st, 7′ 6″) and had firsts in the 4×100 and 4×800-meter relays; 100 and 200-meter dashes, 800-meter run; 300-meter hurdles and triple jump. At the CNDC outdoor, Rugby finished with 185 and first place finishes in the 400-meter dash; 800 run; 4×800 relay; pole vault and triple jump. At Velva, the girls finished with 160 points and had first-place finishes in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays; pole vault; long jump and discus.

In Rugby, the boys were on top with a 204-point finish on the meet, and first place finishes in the 800-run; 110-meter hurdles; 300 hurdles; 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 relays; high jump and pole vault. First place finishes continued at the CNDC for the boys in the 100, 200 and 400 dashes; 110 hurdles; 4×200 relay; high jump and pole vault. The first place finishes extended in Velva in the 3200-meter run; 4×100 relay; high jump; pole vault and long jump.

State qualifiers from the Mariya Tate Memorial include: Sara Stier (triple jump); Kaden Jaeger (4×100 relay); Kade Leier (4×100 relay); Victor Gronvold (4×100, pole vault); Cade Heilman (4×100); Ryan Michels (high Jump).

State qualifiers from the CNDC meet include: Kristina Brossart (100 dash); Anni Stier (400 dash, 300 hurdles); Maria Blessum (pole vault); Sara Stier (triple jump); Maddie Uhlenkamp (javelin); Michels (200 dash, 4×200, high jump); Gronvold (110 hurdles, 4×200, pole vault); Leier (4×100, 4×200); Heilman (4×100, 4×200); Dustin Herold (4×100); Jaeger (4×100).

State qualifiers from the Velva Last Chance meet include: Brossart (4×100, 4×200); Anni Stier (4×100, 4×200, 4×400); Sara Stier (4×100, 4×200); Blessum (4×100, 4×200, 4×400); Tristin Lunde (4×400); Kimberlee Leier (4×400); Uhlenkamp (discus); Jaeger (4×100); Kade Leier (4×100); Herold (4×100); Heilman (4×100); the 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams; Michels (high jump); Gronvold (pole vault).

Regional track took place in Rugby on Friday. State track begins May 27 at 10 a.m. in Bismarck.
