Wildcats Win Youth Tourney

A group of Rugby fifth graders won their division at a basketball tournament on March 11 and 12 in Rugby.

In the first round of the tournament, the Rugby Wildcats defeated 7th-place Minot Dad’s Garage to advance to the semifinal round. There they defeated the 3rd-place Ojibwa Eagles- who came off a win from from the 5th-place Surrey Stallions. The Wildcats then defeated the Minot Mavericks in the championship round.

Rugby Swish, the 8th grade team, took 3rd place, defeating Belcourt Sharpshooters and Nedrose, but falling to St. John Traditional Fire and Langdon Elites.

Proceeds from the tournament went toward Lutheran youth groups as well as boys’ and girls’ basketball programs.
