The Rugby Pee Wee Ice Hawks competed and brought home third place in the N.D. State PeeWee B Bronze Tournament in Williston last weekend. The Ice Hawks won Friday against the Fargo Freeze Maroon, 4-1; lost Saturday to Mandan Braves, 2-3; and on Sunday won for third against West Fargo White, 5-0.

While the PeeWee team competed in Williston, the Rugby Ice Hawks hosted the PeeWee B Gold State Tournament last weekend here in Rugby at the Al Wentz Arena. The top eight teams in the state competed, including Langdon, FF Red, Crosby, FF Purple, FF Orange, Bismarck, Richland and Wahpteon. Richland went on to win the championship.

“If it wasn’t for the community support helping out, we couldn’t have pulled this off,” said Vicky Reile, one of the tournament managers. “We’ve hosted a state tournament in the past, and it’s good for both the hockey program and the community.”
