Braves Fall in Opener

The Devils Lake Firebirds opened their season by lighting up the Bottineau-Rugby Braves on the ice, 9-0.

The Firebirds established the lead early with four goals in the first period. The first came from Craig Peterson off an assist from Cole Senkyr and Bryce Sebelius. Tommy Reslock and Cooper Knoke would follow suit later. Sebelius alone would end the first period.

The lead was then extended when Knoke scored his second goal of the game off a Peterson assist. Ryan Reule, Brady Johnson and Matthew Boren then finished the game in the Firebirds’ favor, with Johnson scoring two goals.

Braves goalie Ethan Clements managed 31 saves in the game. Firebirds goalie Wyatt Ness recorded 10 saves.
