Jaycees Hold Punt, Pass & Kick

This past weekend area youth came to together at Johnsen Field in Rugby for comradely and competition. The occasion was the NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK (PPK) program that is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 to compete separately against their peers. The program was established in 1961 and is the oldest NFL Youth Football program in existence today

The Rugby Jaycees were instrumental in brining the punt, Pass & Kick competition to Rugby as well as for its resounding success. There were more than 50 kids that participated in the competition to show off their throwing and kicking skills.

These are the youngsters that earned first-place honors in their respective age groups and their accumulative scores:


Age 6-7 Braelyn Connot, Rugby, 203

Age 14-15 Winners: Karsyn Hager and D.J. Schneibel.

Age 8-9 Danica Gross, Rugby, 399

Age 10-11 Ellie Braaten, Westhope, 1598

Age 12-13 Tesha Sobolik, Rugby, 2297

Age 14-15, Karsyn Hager, Rugby, 2708

And for the Boys:

Age 6-7 Gavin Bartsch, Rugby, 1198

Age 8-9 Walker Braaten, Westhope, 1930

Age 10-11, Brody Schneibel, Rugby, 2146

Age 12-13 Riley Tuenge, Rugby, 2470

Age 14-15 D.J. Schneibel, Rugby 3975

These 10 winners will move on to the sectional competition, to be held Sunday, Oct. 11 in Carrington. If they are successful there they could qualify for the Team Championships competition, to be held at the televised game on Dec. 6 at Mall of America Field in conjunction with the Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks football game.
