Titans Trounce Raiders
The TGU Titans beat the visiting Drake-Anamoose Raiders, 50-8. The Titans defense put up a goose egg, with the Raiders’ only score coming off of a fumble recovery by Skye Isaak.
The Titans racked up 421 total offense, with 384 yards coming on the ground. Lane Schmitt accounted for 150 yards and four touchdowns while Shayden Luna galloped for 142 yards on just 9 carries and crossing the goal line three times.
Blaine Rosencrans led the defensive charge with eight tackles, followed by Kolter Schell with seven tackles; Lane Schmitt and Evan Burkhard each with six tackles; Cole Bethke with five tackles, Caleb Cross with four tackles along with Shayden Luna, who also had four tackles and a fumble recovery. Zac Bryn and Miguel Juarez both contributed with three tackles along with Andy Linstrom, Tristan Mcmahon, and Lane Bachmeier, who each had two tackles. James Rosencrans and Kayden Padley each helped with the defensive cause, having one tackle each.
Coach Thorson said about the game, ” We played a pretty well rounded game on Friday. Our two areas of focus were defense and our run game. I feel that we played very well in those two areas. We are pleased with that.” He continued, “We did make a few mistakes that hurt us. These we need to fix. We had a special teams mistake that gave us very poor field position and eventually led to Drake-Anamoose recovering a fumbled snap in the endzone for a TD.”
According to Coach Thorson, the Titans did suffer a key injury. Senior Offensive and Defensive lineman Ethan Hetland left the game early with a collarbone injury. At the time that this article was published, the severity of or his status with the injury is unknown.
TGU is undefeated this season, with a 3-0 record after this impressive, well-coached win against the Raiders.
