Babe Ruth Team Wins Regionals
The Rugby baseball team had no quit in them, taking two games from Bottineau 13-8 and 13-3 respectively. The wins made Rugby the regional champs, with a best two out of three scheduled for Monday against Grafton to earn a spot in the state tournament. The winning pitchers were Dillon Marco, who pitched all 7 innings in the first game, and Landen Foster, who pitched a solid 5 innings with the second game being called for the 10 run rule.
Coach Johnson stated “I can’t be any prouder of all these kids. They have taken every obstacle before them and overcame it.” Coach Johnson continued, “We had a great combination of strong hitters, great pitching and solid fielding. I couldn’t have asked any more from these young men, I look at all of them more as my sons than just players.”
REGULAR SEASON ENDS WITH WIN
The Rugby baseball team ended its regular season with a victory against Rolette/Rolla 11-0 sending them to the regional playoffs ranked first.
Marco pitched 4 strong innings, giving up 1 hit, with 4 walks, 11 strikeouts, and giving up no runs. Shayden Luna pitched the final inning, giving up 2 hits no walks and no runs.
Luna also went 1-2 with 2 walks and scored twice.
Foster went 2-3, with 2 RBIs, 1 walk, and scored twice.
Isaiah Johnson went 1-2 with 1 RBI, 2 walks, and scored twice.
Marco went 3-4 with an RBI
Seth Jaeger went 1-2, 1 walk and scored once
Mayson McCabe was 1-1 with 2 walks and scored twice.
Kelby Gingerich was 0-2, scoring once from a walk.
Kyler Odden was 0-1 with 1 walk.
Tim Mueller had 1 at bat and was hit by a pitch.
Kyler Gingerich was 1-3.
