Football In June: Is There Anything Better?

By Staff | Jul 2, 2015

What memories does fresh cut grass bring to you? To me, recently cut grass smells like twilight in the countryside and football practice on a muggy afternoon in Tampa, Fla. Those memories came flooding back when I was able to watch the fundamentals camp for grades 7-12 held at Rugby High School. According to Coach Scott Grochow the camp had just over 40 participants between the junior high group and the varsity group.

The camp was open to anyone in the area but no one was turned away. The purpose of the camp is to introduce new athletes to the terminology used by the Rugby coaches. In addition, the camp is to work on basics, try out any new wrinkles that may want to be introduced during the football season, and reinforce concepts that are going to implemented.

This camp would not be possible if it wasn’t for the coaches/instructors who were Scott Grochow, Kevin Leier, Jeff Stewart and Pake Hagen.
