Baseball Team Continues Their Winning Ways

Rugby Panthers youth Babe Ruth baseball team is steamrolling the competition. First year head coach Kipp Johnson is providing a steady hand placing emphasis on sound fundamentals that has resulted in an undefeated season to date.

Rugby took their winning ways to Cando on June 18, where they prevailed 9-6. Landen Foster pitched a good game with 6 1/3 innings solid innings, recording 9 strikeouts. Dillon Marco came on in relief for the last two outs and preserved the win. Rugby continued to show their prowess at the plate with a 17 hit performance. Shayden Luna went on a 4 hit barrage with 4 at bats and scoring 3 times. Landen Foster not only excelled on the mound, but also went 3 for 4 at the plate with an RBI and scoring twice. Isaiah Johnson registered a perfect night at the plate with a 4 for 4 performance, bringing in 2 runs and crossing the plate himself 3 times.

The hitting demonstration was a team affair with Dillon Marco going 1 for 4, Nate Haman going 1 for 4, Mayson McCabe going 1-4 with an RBI, Seth Jaeger going 1 for 3, Kyler Odden going 1 for 2 with a walk and scored once, and Kyler Gingerich going 1 for 3.

Rugby next faced Rolette Rolla on June 22, where they remained undefeated by putting a 12 hit, 15 run, beat down on Rolette Rolla concluding with a dominating 15 to 3 victory.

Dillon Marco pitched a powerful 7 innings giving up only 6 hits while fanning 16 Rolette Rolla batters. Shayden Luna continued putting on a hitting clinic going 3 for 5 and scoring twice. Isaiah Johnson showed his skill at the plate, also going 3 for 5 while driving in 2 runs. Dillon Marco went 1 for 3, had 2 walks and scored twice. Nate Haman had a 1 for 2 night, with 2 walks, an RBI, and scored twice. Mayson McCabe went 1 for 3, walked twice, and scored 3 runs. Seth Jaeger was 2 for 2 at the plate, showed a good eye with 2 walks, had 2 RBI’s, and scored 3 times. Kyler Gingerich milked 3 walks out of Rolette Rolla pitchers that resulted in 2 runs. Kelby Gingerich had 1 for 3 night, driving in 2 runs, and scoring once.
