Senior Noah Kraft led in scoring for Rugby, shooting an 85 in 18 holes. Classmate Brady Fossum was not too far behind with 89.

Last week, the team split into two teams for a meet on their home soil.

Sophomore Ben Hershey’s 99 and senior Nathan Jacobson’s 102 helped contribute to a combined score of 381, as well as a second place finish on the day for the team.

Rugby’s second team, the “orange team”, took fifth with a combined score of 426. Junior Levi Pollman led the team, shooting a 92. The next closest golfer on the team was senior Tanner Bernhardt, who shot a 104.

Senior Casey Julson, of the first place Northern Lights team (381), took first at the meet, shooting an 84. Close behind was Harvey-Wells County senior Aaron Knutson, who shot an 87 for second place.

The boys golfed Friday in Rolla, and will golf today in Dunseith.

The Rugby High School girls golf team was able to pull off another win Monday in Bottineau.

Senior Elizabeth Blessum led in scoring on the day, shooting an 86 to a medalist finish. The next closest golfer at the meet was Northern Lights freshman Jocelyn Braunberger, who shot a 97 and had a slight edge over third place-finisher Mackenzie Jacobson, a Garrison/Max sophomore. Bottineau Stars sophomore Megan Olson took fourth with 99, and Central McLean senior Krista Blotske rounded out the top 5, shooting a 101.

For Rugby, the next closest golfers on the team were seniors ReeAnn Christianson (108) and Paige Johnson (109).

The girls golfed Friday at an individual qualifier meet in Garrison, and their next meet after that is an individual qualifying meet in Rugby May 7.
