Bantams stay hot

The Rugby-Bottineau bantam hockey team won a pair of league games the weekend of Jan. 17-18.

The team (19-3-1) beat Jamestown-Valley City 10-1 in Rugby and Grafton-Park River 6-0 in Park River. The wins bumped the league record to 4-1.

The big period against J-VC came in the middle frame with five goals. The team had nine goal scorers in the game, led by Emma Arstein’s two goals.

Pace was the theme against G-PR as the team scored a pair of goals in each period. Six different R-B players scored.

The winning continued with a 3-2 win over Boissevain on Jan. 20 in Bottineau. Jace Scherr broke a 2-2 tie with 2 minutes, 40 seconds remaining. Kyler Odden and Gabe Clements also scored. Goaltender Micah Hershey made 30 saves.

Win No. 19 came in a 5-4 game with Souris. Hershey made 28 saves. Scherr led the team with a pair of goals.
