Wildcats hoping front court depth will carry team
Benson County head boys basketball coach Scott Lindgren hopes a deep front court can carry his team to a successful season.
The team returns four seniors, three who are 6-foot-1 or taller.
Lindgren believes 6-1 senior Seth Bisbee, 6-2 senior Brady Stoll and sophomore Quentin Sears will be among the team’s top players.
“Only two of the seniors are really experienced, but we will play all of our seniors a majority of the minutes, especially early in the season,” he said. “I think the strength of the team should be our depth at the forward and center positions.”
Lindgren said the team should have a good mix of front court players who can play on the wing and a few who can make an impact in the paint.
“A little of both, we have some big guys that can play in and outside and we have a couple that will just stay inside,” he said. “But our height should definitely be a strength for us and hopefully we can do a good job of protecting the lane on defense and playing through our bigs on offense.”
The Wildcats will have a tough task in stopping North Star, which hasn’t lost a game in the region in three seasons.
“Well that’s easier said than done,” Lindgren said. “I think you need to be able to handle their pressure, minimize turnovers and play your best game of the year.”
