Drake-Anamoose tops Rugby

By Staff | Oct 13, 2012

With the season about half over, the Rugby girls volleyball team is still trying to find its way. Tuesday night they lost 3-0 to Drake-Anamoose, which played a tough game according to Panthers’ coach, Jessica Fritz.

“We made too many errors,” Fritz said. “We struggled with a lot of the easy things. We didn’t communicate and didn’t serve well.”

Some girls are still stepping into leadership roles, the coach said. She cited Allison Volk as a consistent player, game in and game out.

The Panthers are only two games into district play, where they have one win and one loss.

“We’re looking to improve our game against Westhope-Newburg,” Fritz said. That game was played this past Thursday night, after the Tribune went to press.
