The Rugby Boys Golf Team brought home top honors from the Harvey-Wells County varsity meet on Monday, April 16. The Panthers shot a combined score of 324. Harvey-Wells County was second with 353 while Westhope-Newburg finished with 355 and a third place ranking. Rounding out the top five were Northern Lights at 4th place and Minot Ryan at 5th place.

“I was very pleased with the results,” said Gary Myhre, coach, Rugby.

Hunter Braaten, Westhope shot a 78 to become the medalist. Nick Myhre, Northern Lights, was runner-up with a 78. Rugby’s Zach Berube took third place with a 79. The senior is making a comeback in golf as he hasn’t competed since junior high.

In fourth place, Darren Young, Benson County, shot an 80 and Koby Houchin, Harvey-Wells County came in 5th with an 80.

Senior Zach Leer is also doing well this year. He shot an 81 at Harvey. Jack McClintock and senior Kyle Halvorson each shot 82.

Fifteen teams played in the Harvey-Wells County Boys Varsity. The weather was cold, but the teams persevered to the end.
