Panthers finish 2nd in pool
The Lady Panthers had a chance to improve their game during the Glenburn Tourney on Sept. 10.
They finished 2nd in their pool and moved to the Gold division in the tournament. They were challenged by Kenmare and lost both games and were out of the tournament.
The Lady Panthers played against some tougher competition in Kenmare, Velva, and Minot Ryan.
“The girls played well this weekend,” said Coach Jessica Fritz. “We are working on a new rotation and things are improving.”
What they learned was evident in the Sept. 13 game against Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood played at Rugby. Rugby beat M-L-S 3-1 and everyone on the team came to play.
Aubrey Hovland led the team in kills at 13 with Abbey Paul and Laura Fritel each contributing 10 kills. Gabby Samuda and Kristen Mundahl made four aces each while Paul and Hovland provided the blocks, 9 and 6 respectively. Mundahl got in 17 digs with Hovland getting 5. Kenzie Cameron came through with her specialty 13 assists and Alli Volk added 8 more.
Rugby lost the first game to M-L-S 11-25. The next three matches the Lady Panthers dominated with a score of 25 per game. M-L-S rallied in game three, but missed the win by 3 points.
The Lady Panthers will play TGU at Towner on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
