BC ladies win two in a row

The Benson County Volleyball Team started their season in September and won two games in one week. The first was against Towner-Granville-Upham (TGU) in Towner. To sweeten the deal it was homecoming week for the Wildcats.

The first game the Wildcats defeated the Titans 25-14, followed by a win of 25-17 and a third win of 25-11.

Kendra Leibfried had a good week being crowned homecoming queen and making 18 assists against the Titans. McKenna Thompson of TGU made six assists.

Wildcats Sara Schwanke and Chelsey Weigler each made 7 kills while Meghan Jorgenson made 5. Titans Ashley Brodehl, Delrae Latendresse, Amanda Pratt, and Mattie Schmidt each made two kills for their team. Annie Jorgenson made 3 and and Schwanke made two aces for the Wildcats while Pratt made an ace for the Titans. Katelynn Engh made 6 digs and Schwanke added 5 for Benson County.

On Sept. 8 BC won their second game of the season 3-0. This time they were playing the Rolette-Wolford Comets at Rolette. The scores for the three matches were 25-17, 25-15 and 25-23 all in favor of BC.

Sara Schwanke led the Wildcats with 20 kills. Annie Jorgenson added 5 kills and Chelsey Weigler made 4. Kendra Liebfried stepped up her game and made 28 assists. Kenzie Silliman made 2 aces. Meghan Jorgenson added 2 blocks. Silliman contributed 12 digs, while Schwanke and Katelynn Engh each added 9 digs.

For Rolette-Wolford Callie Brorby led the way with 12 kills and Lexy Willmayer added 7. Kenaday Martinson made 10 assists. Brorby also had 2 aces and 2 blocks. Wittmayer had 2 blocks.

Benson County will play Adams-Edmore at Adams at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 19. The Wildcats will play Langdon on Thursday, Sept. 22 at Leeds at 4 p.m.

TGU will play Rugby at Towner on Tues. Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. and at Velva on Thurs. Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. in Velva.
